“My favorite part of being a general surgeon is helping people in their time of need.”

Welcoming New Patients

Nobody really enjoys having surgery, but sometimes it is necessary. My favorite part of being a general surgeon is helping people in their time of need, which could include struggling with a life-threatening disorder or suffering in desperation. I also really appreciate the variety of ailments I can address as a surgeon; breast cancer, colon cancer, gallbladder disease, appendicitis, hernias, acid reflux, varicose veins, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, endoscopy, traumatic injuries, and many more. My special interests include laparoscopic surgery, endocrine surgery and breast surgery.

I have a strong interest in medical missions, which is another reason I became a general surgeon. Spending one month of my surgery training in Kenya confirmed and renewed this desire in me. Performing surgery can bring life-altering, long-lasting effects with just a small time investment.

I enjoy spending most of my leisure time with my wife and three young children. I also like being active in church, watching sports, going to movies, concerts and plays, fishing, bowling and singing. In a previous life, I sang at Disney World on a cruise ship. If I had the opportunity, I would still love to be in a “semi-professional” men’s acapella singing group.
