“I love people and I love to care for people.”

Welcoming New Patients

I like to joke with people that I chose my specialty of colorectal surgery by process of elimination. In medical school, I worked with a wonderful mentor who taught me colonoscopies. He piqued my interest on how to develop my surgical expertise.

I love people, and I love to care for people. One of my roles is to be a teacher. There are many diseases in the gastrointestinal tract that can be prevented, and I encourage my patients to make good choices.

One way I like to give back to the world is by volunteering abroad. My family has traveled to the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Haiti and Guatemala for many short-term medical mission trips. I encourage my family members to participate in these trips and strive to set a good example with this work.

In my spare time, I love being with friends and family, reading, riding my motorcycle, downhill skiing and water skiing. We have five grandkids and hope for more!
